Nicole Louise Morin was last seen on July 30th, 1985, from the apartment building she lived in at 627 -The West Mall, near Highway 427 & Rathburn Road area, in Etobicoke, Ontario. Nicole was 8 years old, weighing 51 lbs (28kg), around 4' - 5' tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has a birthmark on the right side of her forehead and somewhat protruding ears. When last seen, Nicole was wearing a peach (coral) bathing suit with colored stripes on the front, a green headband, red canvas shoes and she was carrying a peach-colored blanket and a purple beach towel. http://doenetwork.org/cases/41dfon.html
On the morning of Nicole's disappearance, she had made plans with a friend to go swimming in the pool located at the back of her apartment building at 627 - The West Mall. At 10:30am, Nicole went to the lobby of her building, located 20 floors below, to pick up the mail, she then returned to the top floor (penthouse suite) to get ready to go swimming with her playmate. Before leaving the apartment to go swimming, Nicole had spoken to her friend through the building’s intercom system and promised to be right down, the two had plans to meet in the lobby. At around 11:00am, Nicole said goodbye to her mother and left the apartment, heading for the apartment lobby. Nicole's friend waited for about 15 minutes before buzzing the apartment again to find out why Nicole hadn’t arrived. She had vanished. Little did Nicole's mother know that when the little girl closed the apartment door and walked into the hallway that day, she would never be seen again, except by her abductor/s.
The search for Nicole became one of the largest and most expensive police searches in Canadian history and her case still remains active to this day. Her parents hired private investigators, a special task force was established in Toronto and a $100,000 reward was offered for any information on the whereabouts of Nicole. Any leads that surfaced, were followed to the greatest extent, including traveling to various destinations in the United States, to locate any information, but to no avail. In 2001, an updated, age enhanced photo of Nicole at age 20, was sent to over 1,000 Crime Stoppers programs in 17 countries Worldwide and still no clues emerged on Nicole's disappearance. Nicole's parents have spent many years searching for their daughter and spent a substantial amount of money on private investigators, trying to find any information about her disappearance. Nicole’s father still has a box of mementos from his little girl, including her school work and Father’s Day cards.
Nicole’s case was one of a series of mysterious disappearances of young girls around that time. Before Nicole had vanished, Christine Jessop was nine years old and went missing from her home in October of 1984. Sharin Morningstar Keenan, also nine, was abducted in January 1983, and Alison Parrot disappeared July 1986, at the age of 11. Sadly, all these children were located deceased, but Nicole is the only one that has never been located and no information has ever surfaced as to what happened that day that Nicole went missing from her apartment in Etobicoke, Ontario.
It has been almost 30 years since Nicole Louise Morin's disappearance and someone in Ontario (Canada) has the information to close Nicole's case, and possibly many other missing cases. It's time for anyone with information, to start talking! To allow Nicole's abductor/s to walk free any longer, is the greatest injustice to an innocent little girl who deserved to live out her life, with her parents being able to watch her grow, graduate from high school, walk down the aisle with her father standing next to her, and to have children of her own, to love, protect and to raise. May this article bring new light to an unsolved disappearance of a beautiful young girl, Nicole Louise Morin. We have not forgotten and will never forget about her and the many other missing children of Canada, who have never been found. We will keep looking, writing and hoping that someone will feel the need to lift the demon from their shoulders and share information they have, to the Police, to give Nicole's parents the closure they deserve. May Nicole find her way home....
